Makaela Kingsley is Director of the Patricelli Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Wesleyan University. She teaches Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship and the Patricelli Center Fellowship, a year-long, project-based, cohort-style program for student entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and changemakers. A 1998 graduate of Wesleyan, Makaela previously held positions in Wesleyan’s advancement division focused on alumni relations, volunteer management, and event planning. She began her career at the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts where she worked in development and public relations. Outside of the Patricelli Center, Makaela volunteers on the boards of Open Communities Alliance and CTNext’s Higher Ed initiative, and as a Coach for AshokaU Commons, a mentor for Yale’s entrepreneurship programs, and a judge for Echoing Green and the Grinnell Prize. She lives in Hamden, CT, with her husband Matt, who is the Associate Head Coach of Men’s Basketball at Yale, and their two children, Amelia (age 12) and Eli (age 9).
